In short

Fibo 2.0 and Qwen-Image 2.1 are tied on Artificial Analysis within error (editing 1088 against 1081, text to image 1039 against 1042), and both open weights are non-commercial: Fibo under CC BY-NC 4.0, Qwen under a research license. Qwen takes up to 10 reference images, Fibo up to 4 plus a 4-step Edit Turbo. Nobody has measured face similarity across the two. For a monetized feed, get a license in writing or pick MOSS-Image.

Two 7B to 8B image models tie on the public leaderboards this week, and neither one lets you run your character's feed commercially without a separate deal. Fibo 2.0 from Bria sits at Elo 1088 on image editing and Qwen-Image 2.1 at 1081, with confidence intervals that overlap on both Artificial Analysis boards. Its weights are CC BY-NC 4.0 (model card); Qwen's are under a research license (license text). If you run an AI influencer, the license row decides before the score does.

We have already put Krea 2 against Qwen-Image 2.1 and MOSS-Image against both. Fibo 2.0 is the new name people now type next to Qwen, so this is the same test for the same reader: what each takes as a reference, what it costs in disk, how it runs in ComfyUI and what the terms allow.

The verdict first

  • Choose Qwen-Image 2.1 to explore a look and lock a face from up to 10 reference images, if the output stays inside research or evaluation. It has the larger ComfyUI install base by a wide margin.
  • Choose Fibo 2.0 if you want a 4-step Edit Turbo and structured prompts you can change field by field. Its terms are the same wall: non-commercial unless Bria agrees otherwise.
  • Choose neither for a monetized account unless you have the commercial license in writing. MOSS-Image ships Apache-2.0 weights, and Krea 2 is free for commercial use under a revenue cap; our three-way comparison has the details.
  • Nobody has measured face similarity for Fibo 2.0 against Qwen. Anything that says one holds a face better is a claim from a vendor or a tester with a handful of renders.

The score is a tie, so read the intervals

On the text-to-image board Qwen-Image 2.1 reads 1042 (interval 1030 to 1054) and Fibo 2.0 1039 (1027 to 1051). On the editing board it flips: Fibo 2.0 at 1088 (1074 to 1102) and Qwen at 1081 (1068 to 1094). Every pair of intervals overlaps for most of its length, so the honest reading is a tie in both arenas. ComfyUI Wiki's report of the October 20 snapshot calls Fibo first among open-weights editors; that is true by 7 points inside intervals about 28 wide, and nothing more.

For context, the same text-to-image board lists FLUX 3 Image Klein at 1043, rank 21, as the open-weights leader. Elo is also a preference vote on generic prompts, not a measure of whether the same woman appears in image 40 as in image 1.

Keeping the same face: 10 references against 4

Qwen-Image 2.1's card says it supports up to 10 reference images and can preserve identity for people and products, and shows a group photo generated from six portrait references. It gives no similarity numbers. Fibo 2.0's card describes edits that keep identity, layout, lighting and fine detail, with multi-reference editing for up to 4 images. It, too, comes with showcase examples and no measurement.

So the paper difference is 10 against 4 reference slots, and Fibo has a 4-step Edit Turbo that makes a loop of small changes cheap. The practical difference is smaller: for a character you post daily you still want the pipeline in our consistent character guide, a fixed reference set, and a trained LoRA once the face has to survive new poses. One Fibo commenter on the Comfy-Org repack said their LoRAs work well on the Dev model with a Turbo LoRA at CFG 3 to 5; that is one person's report, not a benchmark.

Staged with demo data: the request for a recurring character, written against Mira, before any model runs. The test that matters is ten renders from one reference set on each model.

The license is the same wall, built differently

Fibo 2.0's card says the weights are "open source for non commercial use only" and that commercial use requires an agreement with Bria. The Comfy-Org repack page repeats CC BY-NC 4.0 and the same requirement. Both official repositories are gated: you accept Bria's terms before downloading (ComfyUI Wiki).

Qwen's license defines Non-Commercial as "for research or evaluation purposes only" and section 2.b bars any commercial purpose without a separate commercial license. The Qwen license does mention outputs in other clauses, but neither text, as we read them, says whether you may post a picture you generate locally to a paid account. We are not lawyers, so if the output pays your rent, ask both companies for the answer in writing.

Fibo has one route Qwen's open weights do not advertise. ComfyUI's Bria partner nodes call Bria's hosted API, bill each run, and the page describes the model as trained on licensed data with provenance suitable for commercial work. That is the vendor's description of the hosted path, not a legal opinion on yours; the Artificial Analysis listing puts the hosted price at $32 per 1,000 images. It also means a Fibo workflow built from those nodes does not run on your own machine, which is the opposite of what the open weights are for.

Qwen-Image 2.1's repack lists text encoder variants from 6.3 GB to 17.5 GB, so check which one your workflow loads before you count disk; our model download size study shows why the encoder is often half of the total. If a template stops on a missing node after an update, the missing-nodes guide is the first stop.

What creators are saying

When each one wins, and loses

  1. 1

    Qwen-Image 2.1

The reference-heavy option with the bigger install base, held back by a research-only license.

Best for: Exploring a face from up to 10 reference images

    • Up to 10 reference images
    • 10 million repack downloads in 30 days, so help is easy to find
    • Smaller main file at 14.23 GB bf16
    • Research or evaluation use only
    • Sizes of the text encoder vary by variant
    • No similarity measurement published
  2. 2

    Fibo 2.0

The tidier generate-and-edit package with the same commercial wall and a younger ecosystem.

Best for: Edit loops on a fixed character, 4 steps at a time

    • 4-step Edit Turbo
    • Structured prompts with separate fields, optional in practice
    • CC BY-NC 4.0 and a gated download
    • Up to 4 references, not 10
    • A week old
  3. 3

    MOSS-Image

The option for anyone who needs the license to be settled today.

Best for: A monetized feed that cannot accept a revenue cap or a research license

    • Apache-2.0 weights
    • 5B parameters
    • No reference images, so a LoRA is the way to keep a face
    • Days old with few independent tests

Where Musetta fits

Musetta runs on your own ComfyUI, installs the nodes and models a workflow is missing, and keeps each character's reference photos, so trying a second base model is a test, not a rebuild. It changes none of the licenses above. See how it compares with building the graphs yourself.

Questions

Is Fibo 2.0 better than Qwen-Image 2.1?
On Artificial Analysis they are tied within error: Fibo 2.0 leads editing by 7 Elo points (1088 against 1081) and Qwen leads text to image by 3 (1042 against 1039), with overlapping intervals in both.
Can I use Fibo 2.0 for a monetized AI influencer?
Not under the open weights license. The model card says the weights are for non commercial use only and that commercial use requires an agreement with Bria. Ask Bria in writing, or use its hosted API.
Can I use Qwen-Image 2.1 commercially?
The Qwen Research License defines non-commercial as research or evaluation only and bars commercial purposes without a separate commercial license from Qwen.
How many reference images do Fibo 2.0 and Qwen-Image 2.1 take?
Fibo 2.0 takes up to 4 in multi-reference editing; Qwen-Image 2.1 takes up to 10. Neither card publishes a face-similarity measurement.
Does Fibo 2.0 run natively in ComfyUI?
Yes, ComfyUI Wiki reports core support merged on October 21, 2026, with a TextEncodeFibo2 node. Update ComfyUI first. ComfyUI also has separate Bria partner nodes that call the hosted API and bill per run.
Do I have to write JSON prompts for Fibo 2.0?
The model card describes structured JSON captions, but a commenter on the Comfy-Org repack reported normal text prompts work through the ComfyUI text encoder node with similar results.
